At 9:30 a.m. on October 12, the 47th World Congress of Vine and Wine and the OIV General Assembly, alongside the 6th China (Ningxia) International Wine Culture and Tourism Expo, officially opened in Yinchuan. Representatives from 51 OIV member states, diplomats from 32 embassies in China, and over 800 distinguished guests gathered in the picturesque "Jiangnan of the North" to explore new opportunities for the global wine industry. Co-hosted by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Regional Government, the 47th World Congress of Vine and Wine and the OIV General Assembly marks the first time the OIV Congress has been held in Asia since its inception over a century ago, and the first time China has hosted this premier international academic event in the vine and wine sector. Over the five-day event, domestic and international wine industry leaders will convene under the theme "Building a New Global Landscape for the Vine and Wine Industry" to foster friendships, discuss cooperation, and chart future development. Held concurrently, the 6th China (Ningxia) International Wine Culture and Tourism Expo will jointly present a "purple" grand event showcasing China's elegance,汇聚ing global wisdom, and building the future of the industry. The eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains in Ningxia are internationally recognized as one of the premier golden regions for wine grape cultivation. In recent years, the region's wine industry has grown rapidly, establishing itself as an iconic Chinese wine-producing region. Hosting this congress not only affirms Ningxia's achievements in wine industry development but also provides a crucial opportunity for China's wine industry to step onto the global stage. As the most authoritative intergovernmental organization in the global vine and wine sector, the OIV's decision to hold its General Assembly in Asia for the first time, specifically in China, is of milestone significance. Throughout the five-day congress, experts, scholars, corporate representatives, and government officials from around the world will delve into topics such as development trends, technological innovation, market expansion, and cultural exchange under the theme "Building a New Global Landscape for the Vine and Wine Industry." Through a series of summit forums, technical symposiums, and tasting events, delegates will share the latest research findings and successful practices to jointly address challenges posed by global climate change and shifting market demands. The concurrently held 6th China (Ningxia) International Wine Culture and Tourism Expo further highlights the integrated development concept of "Wine + Cultural Tourism." Through diverse formats including exhibitions, interactive experiences, and the promotion of cultural tourism routes, the expo comprehensively showcases the fruitful achievements and unique appeal of China's wine industry, particularly that of Ningxia. Here, exhibitors and visitors from around the globe can not only savor high-quality wines but also gain profound insights into the cultural heritage and local customs behind them. The successful hosting of this "purple" grand event will undoubtedly further promote exchange and cooperation between China and the rest of the world in the vine and wine sectors, elevate the international influence and competitiveness of China's wine industry, and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the global vine and wine industry.
